FUNDAMENTAL DJEMBE: TEXT & ILLUSTRATIONS
3 Pages of Educational Text and Illustrations from the Liner Notes and CD Sleeve.
$ 3.50
Everything from the Fundamental Djembe CD packaging is available as a three page
download for your computer and printer. We recommend color, but you also have the
option of black and white. Check it out. . .

|

|
The first page has all the illustrations Ben Ciccati and I created to visually
demonstrate the three fundamental sounds of the djembe, and narrative
descriptions of the correct techniques for playing each one.
|

|
The second page contains all of the rhythms taught
on the CD. We learn four rhythms in 4/4 time, and learn three
of those same rhythms in 6/8 time. Each rhythm is notated in
large type, with the notes for one hand in red, and the other
hand in purple, written in a very simple and easy-to-read format.
|

|
The third page contains most of the informative text from the CD liner notes,
including suggestions to help you get the most out of the recording, suggestions
for practicing, and a few words about the information on the CD.

Suggested Options:
For about twenty dollars you can get the CD from CD Baby. They’ll have your order
in the mail within seventy-two hours.
You can listen to many of the tracks on the CD free of charge by checking out the
samples posted at CD Baby and My Space.

For about four dollars you can download all the text and illustrations, including
all of the rhythms and all of the visual demonstrations of the three fundamental
techniques.
And for another three or four dollars, you could select one particular rhythm,
and download your practice tracks from iTunes or CD Baby.
So if you want to practice the pattern nicknamed “4/4 Traveler’s Checks,”
download the text and illustrations, and get tracks 11, 12, and 13 from iTunes.
Then you can listen to the example, learn the correct playing techniques, and
play along as it is demonstrated slowly, then moderately fast, and then fast.
If you also want to learn that same rhythm in 6/8 time, pick up tracks 14, 15 and
16. By getting the text, illustrations, and six practice tracks, you can get a
great introduction to playing a djembe rhythm, right now, for about eleven dollars.
